AWARD WINNING waterfront oasis

This beautiful kitchen design won the National Kitchen and Bathroom Association (NKBA) Creative Small Space Design in the 2023 Excellence in Design Awards.

Our clients are a professional couple who wanted to update their space to reflect them and the environment they live in. Their brief was to have a functional kitchen design that is beautiful with clean finishes and lots of additional storage. The clients are entertainers and have an extensive booze collection, so we designed cabinetry and wine storage on the living room side of the peninsula bench. Overhead cabinetry allows access to glassware from this side and is a beautiful feature in its own right, with fluted glass and black powder-coated steel with LED lighting integrated.

 
 

warm & lush

In the dining space we’ve added a long bench seat with storage drawers spanning the width of the room which creates an eye line leading out to the ocean. The stunning oversized β€˜Strand’ pendant light is perfectly framed as you walk down the hallway from the bedrooms. An additional joinery unit was added to reflect the kitchen joinery and optimise the storage.

In the dining space the joinery unit spans the width of the room and doubles as a bench seat to optimise space in the apartment footprint. Selected furniture and furnishings were carefully curated to fit within the small apartment space, for comfort and also to allow flexibility.

The sofa includes a custom joinery unit that doubles as a display space and a spot to put down your glass, with bonus additional storage cupboards behind the sofa. And who wouldn’t want to sit back on this couch and stare at that view!

Sea green Fenix Verde was chosen for the kitchen cabinetry, which changes colour in this space as often as the ocean does through the day. 

Married with the strong veins of Neolith Calacatta benchtops and oak detailing, this is a rich palette crafted to suit the warmth and lightness of this apartment.
